God: Nuregami
Animal: Snake (in this case a water snake since they were the most common in japan)
Brush power: 'Waterspout', 'Deluge', 'Fountain'
Element: Water, Death
Zodiac rank: Sixth

Ok, some of you (who actually care...) are wondering why I also included death as her element (since most people assume death is a BAD/EVIL/ICKY thing). From what she says when she grants you deluge as well as the fact that for many people living on islands, the ocean is a source of life and death, it's pretty safe to assume that she has some part in the cycle of life. In many eastern religions (and ancient european and middle eastern [Greek/romans for example], death is simply a part of the cycle, something to both mourn and celebrate. The dead are always with us, and we travel from life to life as if on a river of time. Also since she is both female and water is attributed to the Yang(darkness) part of the ying-yang pentagram, it's a good shot.

Her concept was originally more elaborate, and she has the official honor of having the 'most concept art of all of Zah's okami brush gods set' with a whopping 57 sketches. She ranged from a young (clumsy but adorible) child to a delicate young woman, playing on the young part. For her outfit, it stayed the same within all the sketches, many layers, representing the snake's ability to shed their skin, thus appearing 'eternally youthful'. The fish in the picture came very late (last two concepts!), and i drew them with the idea that they were the souls being reincarnated (and one stopping on it's way) or they were her helpers, along with the mermaid in the background guiding the other souls along with her lantern. (In the game, I do realize that there are very mermish people, however they were not labeled mermaids, but draconian. So I called creative license!)[actually the mermaid isn't a mermaid in my opinion, but a race I made up called a levia (or levithan, due to their long, snake like lower bodies, NOT to be confused with nagas thankyouverymuch] Anyways, Had fun with the coloring and tried a new hair coloring technique....

I wish I was now what I was when I wished I was what I am now...I know you believe you understand what you think I said but I am not sure that you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

"Who is Joan of Ark?"
*pause* "Noah's wife?"

Wow, this is great! Every one of these brush god pics is even more beautiful than the last, I tell ya! I love the colors. :) Nuregami's outfit and the sparkly fish came out awesome. She looks very tranquil and comforting...I think if she was guiding my soul to the afterlife, it would make death not seem so scary after all. ^_^ Can't wait to see the next one!
